Habitat for Humanity Spring Break Trip
One of the core values and mission of the THRIVE LLC is to foster a commitment to service among its students. This service trip will help students:
- Understand how housing affects all eight dimensions of wellness recognized by our program
- Identify local resources and solutions
- Actively contribute to the restoration of a community through a Habitat for Humanity build
Previous years the LLC has traveled to St. Louis, MO and Amarillo, TX. In 2023, we traveled to New Orleans, Louisanna for a week-long build with the St. Tammany West Habitat for Humanity affiliate.
And while the main focus of the experience is to give back to the community, we also take the time to enjoy local places of interst. During the trip to Mandeville, students took an envrionmentally-focused swamp tour, an educational and historical tour the Whiney Plantation, zip-lined over the Bayou, and ate ice cream on the beach of Lake Pontchartrain.
